Psychological support based on positive suggestions in the treatment of a critically ill ICU patient
Psychological support based on positive suggestions in the treatment of a critically ill ICU patient
This case report describes the way psychological support based on positive suggestions (PSBPS) was added to the traditional somatic treatment of an acute pancreatitis 36-year-old male patient. Psychological support based on positive suggestions (PSBPS) is a new adjunct therapeutic tool focused on applying suggestive techniques in medical settings. The suggestive techniques usually applied with critically ill patients are based on a number of pre-prepared scripts like future orientation, reframing, positivity, supporting autonomy, etc., and other, very unique and personalized interventions, which are exemplified with verbatim quotations. We describe the way several problems during treatment of intensive care unit (ICU) patients were solved using suggestive methods: uncooperativeness, difficulties of weaning, building up enteral nutrition, supporting recovery motivation, and so on, which permanently facilitated the patient’s medical state: the elimination of gastrointestinal bleeding, recovery of the skin on the abdomen, etc. Medical effects follow-up data at 10 months show that the patient recovered and soon returned to his original work following discharge
Plant growers' environmental consciousness may not be enough to mitigate pollinator declines : a questionnaire‐based case study in Hungary
BACKGROUND: Pesticides are one of the most important anthropogenic-related stressors. In times of global pollinator decline, the role of integrated farming and urban gardens in supporting wild pollinators is becoming increasingly important. We circulated an online questionnaire to survey plant protection practices among Hungarian farmers and garden ownerswith a particular emphasis on pollinator protection.
RESULTS: We found that plant growers rely heavily on pesticide use, and pesticides are used widely in otherwise pollinatorfriendly gardens. Whether pesticide use practices were driven by expert opinion and respondent gender were the best predictors of pesticide use. Although most respondents supported pollinators, pesticides are also used widely among home garden owners, which can pose a non-evident ecological trap for pollinator populations in the gardens.
CONCLUSION: Special attention should be paid to implementing measures to reduce pesticide use not only in farmland, but also in home gardens. Environmental education and financial support through agroecological schemes could efficiently promote the transition away from pesticide use. However, whereas farmers can be encouraged to reduce pesticide use mostly by expert advice, garden owners are likely to rely on more conventional information channels. The attitudes of Hungarian plant growers can provide an insight into pesticide use practices of Central and Eastern European countries, but similar surveys are needed across Europe for a complete understanding of broad-scale processes. This work lays the foundations for similar studies that can inform and facilitate the transformation to pesticide-free farming and gardening.Zsofia Varga-Szilay was supported by the UNKP20-3 New National Excellence Program of the Ministry for Innovation and Technology from the source of the National Research, Development and Innovation Fund. New Results in Surveying Landscape Character and Urban Green Areas
In the framework of the project “KEHOP-4.3.0-15-2016-00001”, we had the opportunity to research the particularities of urban spatial structure. The aim of the research was to define the influencing role and parameters of the urban space with regards to the landscape character. Within the research topic, we paid accentuated attention to the role of green areas in the settlements. We attempted to characterize the types of the settlements’ green space system as a supplement to the above-mentioned research and analyze in five settlements.
The results show that: there is significant dispersion in the field of urban space; we have delimited almost 60,000 built-in patches in the country’s 93,000km2 area, while there are 3,154 administrative areas; the size of the built-in patches allows a close approximated grouping into functional types; following the Second World War, the newly built-up areas show similarities all over the country, disregarding the characteristics of the landscape; “central” settlements (1,474 units) are typically loosely-built, possess a high green area ratio and have a significant tree stock, and only about 6% of Hungary’s territory is partly forested green space, while densely built-up areas occupy 5% of the settlement space; larger green areas are typically only the constituent part of cities, while in most settlements, the partially green space with stands are the characteristics of the green space system; the partially forested green areas of the settlements show significant differences; and can be classified into distinct types, with the character not only being influenced by the settlement’s built-up structure, but also significantly by the natural spatial system in which the settlement was established, and the continued farming traditions as well as the new functions of the settlement; the green space of the settlement fringe areas is a principal factor in influencing the landscape character and affects the development possibilities of the green space system within the settlement
illetve a tömény polielektrolit/tenzid/elektrolit elegyek oldószerrel történő hígítása a
polielektrolit/tenzid (P/T) aggregátumok képződésére. A szakirodalomban találhatunk erre a témára
irányuló kutatásokat, azonban nem alakult ki egységes kép ebben a gyakorlati szempontból is fontos
területen.
A kísérletek során poli(nátrium-4-sztirolszulfonát) (PSS)/ dodeciltrimetilammónium bromid
(DTAB) és poli(diallildimetilammónium klorid) (PDADMC)/nátrium-dodecilszulát (NaDS) elegyeket
készítettem, négy különböző oldatkészítési módszert alkalmazva. Az elegyek minden esetben tartalmaztak
elektrolitot (NaCl).
A PDADMAC/NaDS rendszereknél viszont
elektrosztatikusan stabilizált polielektrolit/tenzid diszperzió készíthető tenzidfeleslegben. Így ezeket az
elegyeket, mind polielektrolit, mindpedig tenzid feleslegben is tanulmányoztam. Elektroforetikus mobilitás
méréssel vizsgáltam a különböző előállítási módok hatását a rendszerekben létrejövő P/T komplexek
töltésére. Turbiditás mérésekkel pedig nyomon követtem a polielektrolit/tenzid nanorészecskék
aggregációját.
Az első három elegykészítési módszert a PSS/DTAB és a PDADMAC/NaDS rendszereknél is
alkalmaztam.
A többi elegykészítési módnál a híg tenzid oldathoz
A PDADMAC/NaDS rendszerek
mobilitása jelentősen megváltozik a harmadik típusú elegyítés során polielektrolit feleslegben, a kötött
sót elszeparálva adjuk a rendszerhez.
a PDADMAC-hoz képest.
A negyedik keverési típus csak a PSS/DTAB rendszerekre alkalmazható, ami során a szilárd
összetevőkből készített tömény PSS/DTAB/NaCl oldatot százszorosára hígítottam. Ebben az esetben
jelentős eltérést tapasztaltam az 1:1 keveréssel előállított oldatokhoz képest. A turbid tartomány helyett
viszont a kötött tenzid mennyiségük jelentősen megnő, ami koagulációhoz vezet. Ez a jelenség
azonban további vizsgálatokat igényel
